MEDIA ALERT
Kids Compete in the Ultimate Reading Game Show
Famed Author Jon Scieszka to Host Live Webcast
WHAT:
To get kids ready for summer, Scholastic is hosting a live game show webcast where kids face-off and test their book trivia knowledge. Four teams of NYC 5th graders, nominated by their teachers, will compete for the title of “Ultimate Reading Star,” while their classes cheer them on in the live audience. Classrooms around the world will be participating via live webcast and help the kids win by answering online questions, responding to live web polls and more! The game show will take place at the Scholastic Auditorium in Soho, NY, and will be hosted by famed children’s book author and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature Jon Scieszka. To watch the game show webcast LIVE visit www.scholastic.com/summer on April 30th @ 1p.m.
The game show webcast kicks off the Scholastic Summer Challenge global literacy campaign. Together with Save the Children and The National Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University, Scholastic has launched a free virtual reading camp that gets kids excited about reading and encourages them to read “4 or more” books during the summer. Throughout the summer, kids can log their minutes spent reading, connect with others, play games, win prizes and read for a cause to support Save the Children’s U.S. programs.
