Scholastic Media Announces New Animated and Live Action Production Slate for MIPCOM

New York – August 6, 2009 – Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc., the global children’s publishing, education and media company will enter this fall’s MIPCOM conference with a diverse slate of animated and live action programming for a wide range of audiences. Each new property is representative of Scholastic’s 360 degree brand building approach to bringing quality entertainment to children and families worldwide. From fish out of water stories casting characters from Greek mythology into modern day high school to a disco-inspired animated series, Scholastic’s slate will appeal to preschool, tween, teen and family audiences alike while continuing to expand upon its award winning property portfolio.

Commenting on Scholastic Media’s production slate at this year’s MIPCOM, Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Media and Executive Vice President of Scholastic Inc. said, “This year’s slate is a terrific representation of the Scholastic Media promise of delivering global audiences quality entertainment for children and families. With a portfolio that delivers something for every type of audience, we’re delighted to be bringing top-notch entertainment to the show this year.”

On the live-action front, Scholastic Media has two new properties based on best-selling book properties - The Wedding Planner’s Daughter and Goddesses. The Wedding Planner’s Daughter, based on the award-winning book series by Coleen Murtagh Paratore, follows 17-year-old Willa, who is on a mission to find love for herself and her commitment phobic mother. Goddesses is the story of three sisters – Thalia, Polly and Era – who are mistakenly sent by their father, Zeus, to Athens, Georgia instead of Athens, Greece. Unable to use their goddess powers, the teenagers are forced to take a crash course in high school survival.

Coming straight from the minds at Scholastic Media is the raw and totally hilarious Motor City. Featuring three friends – Alex, Maddie and Liz – the show will follow the lives of these twenty-somethings in Detroit as they are faced with real life challenges like first loves, first apartments and first jobs.

Turning its sights on the preschool audience, Scholastic Media will introduce three new animated projects --Chicken Socks, Dragoonies and Fuzz and Sparkle. Based on the bestselling Klutz book franchise, Chicken Socks will take kids into Chicken Socks’ imaginative clubhouse and with the help of his magical notebook, Chicken Socks will take viewers on adventures of creation and learning. Dragoonies, a sing-along series for preschoolers, follows six little dragon friends who leap into friendship and adventure as they take on their first big-kid experience – school. Fuzz and Sparkle, an animated comedy full of music and exploration, celebrates the natural explorer in everyone with this intergalactic disco-loving duo.

Scholastic Media is also delighted to introduce a new marketing campaign in support of the Clifford The Big Red Dog® award winning animated series - which has been sold to more than 110 countries worldwide. The Clifford BE BIG™ campaign invites everyone, big and small, to raise awareness for how Clifford’s Big Ideas (Share, Play Fair, Have Respect, Work Together, Be Responsible, Be A Good Friend, Help Others, Be Truthful, Be Kind, Believe In Yourself) can make the world a better place.
