Scholastic Names Anne Boynton-Trigg, Vice President, Export, and Edie Perkins, Vice President, International Product Development

 

Appointments position Scholastic International division for growth in global markets

 

NEW YORK — July 22, 2011Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL), the global children's publishing, education and media company, today announced two important appointments in the Scholastic International division. Anne Boynton-Trigg joins Scholastic as Vice President, Export, and will be responsible for continuing to expand sales penetration in both mature and emerging Export regions as well as overseeing marketing initiatives. Edie Perkins, formerly, Vice President for Export, is appointed to the newly created position of Vice President, International Product Development. She will work collaboratively across corporate divisions and international groups to strengthen and grow the Scholastic brand globally.

In making the announcement, Shane Armstrong President, Scholastic International Growth Markets, said, "Scholastic International is poised for growth in emerging markets, and these two appointments represent a significant step toward achieving that goal. Anne is an experienced publishing, sales and marketing executive who will build on the great work Edie has done in our export business. Edie, who has worked in multiple divisions of Scholastic, is the ideal person to work with the Company's domestic product development teams to ensure that we are creating programs that can easily move from the U.S. into international markets."

Anne Boynton-Trigg comes to Scholastic with vast and diverse experience, most recently as Senior Vice President, General Manager, with Pearson Longman English Language Teaching. In that role, she trained and directed editorial, production, U.S. sales, and global marketing staff and achieved significant growth in many established and emerging global markets. She was also instrumental in forging digital development at Pearson, launching a number of global e-learning initiatives, including the early adoption of digital marketing techniques. Boynton-Trigg also held positions as Director of International Marketing, as well as a number of sales and marketing managerial positions with Pearson.

Edie Perkins has served as Vice President of Export and Marketing, Scholastic International, since 2008, overseeing marketing and sales and growing the business significantly. Prior to her work with the International division, Perkins was Product Manager for the Scholastic Education division, working on the team that developed the Company's groundbreaking reading intervention program, READ 180®. In her new role, she will be responsible for organizing product development and rights acquisition across divisions so that Scholastic is able to rapidly expand its portfolio of regionally-developed products for international markets. She will also be responsible for facilitating the development and adaptation of digital solutions across the Scholastic International Export Group.

Both Boynton-Trigg and Perkins will be based in New York and will report to Shane Armstrong, President, Scholastic International Growth Markets.
