Keith Malone Joins Scholastic as Creative Director, Scholastic Education

October 3, 2011 — New York, N.Y. — Scholastic (NASDAQ: SCHL), the global children’s publishing, education and media company, announced today that Keith Malone has been named Creative Director for Scholastic Education, the company’s instructional and educational technology development group. In this role, Malone will lead the art, design, and creative team at Scholastic Education, working on the division's key brands – READ 180®, System 44®,Scholastic Expert 21®, FAST TMath®, Scholastic Big Day For PreK™ – as well as helping develop best-in-class designs — print and digital —for new products and programs, including MATH 180™, currently in development. He will work closely with the editorial and technology teams to align the design solutions with the technology development and strategic direction of the business. Malone will report to Rose Else-Mitchell, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Scholastic Education.\

Keith Malone joins Scholastic from the LEGO Company, where he led multi-disciplined creative teams and helped found In-House Agency, a global, agency-style structure with offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Denmark and Germany. This award-winning internal agency oversees the creative development of all LEGO’s communication and is responsible for entertainment, broadcast, print and digital expressions of the LEGO brand.

While at LEGO in his role as Creative Director, he grew an organization from 6 to 60 and had direct management of teams in the US and the UK, and his work has spanned all areas of that business, from publishing to game development to print advertising. In addition, he acted as the company’s chief creative liaison for licensing partnerships, directing the communications for a vast portfolio of diverse children’s brands, including Star Wars, NASA and the NBA.

Keith earned a BFA in graphic design from the University of Massachusetts.
