New York, NY—October 23, 2017—Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company, has acquired My Wish for You (ISBN: 978-1-338-15040-7), the debut picture book by actress Kathryn Hahn, to be illustrated by the New York Times bestselling artist Brigette Barrager. Allison Cohen of the Gersh Agency represented Hahn and Kirsten Hall of Catbird Productions represented Barrager in the deal for world rights.

“Inspired by the big gorgeous id of my 6 year-old girl, I started to dream about what it was like before I cared what people thought or how I was seen. When I asked questions and demanded answers. When I trusted my gut,” said Hahn. “I hope girls and their parents can enjoy this together and claim their birthrights: the beautiful power and uniqueness of their own voices.”

My Wish for You is an honest, heartfelt reminder to girls at every age and every stage of the beauty and strength that resides inside each of them. In a time when girls are still told to look a certain way and act a certain way, this inspiring message celebrates the person she is right now. It’s a poignant, encouraging reminder to mothers, daughters, and friends of the importance of simply being themselves.

My Wish for You is a timely and necessary message that encourages and empowers readers in a wholly original way that is core to our mission here at Scholastic,” said Celia Lee, Editor. “In bringing these two talented women together, we’ve created a celebration of the everyday and milestone moments that make us unique and encourages us to persevere.”

Kathryn Hahn will next be seen in A Bad Moms Christmas which releases on November 1, 2017. The film is a follow up to Bad Moms, in which Hahn portrays an over-worked, over-committed and exhausted mom who joins forces with two other moms who all go on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities. She was recently nominated for an Emmy for her performance as Raquel Fein in the hit Amazon series Transparent. She was last seen in Jill Soloway’s Amazon comedy, I Love Dick, starring opposite Kevin Bacon. Recent film credits include Matt Ross’s Captain Fantastic opposite Viggo Mortensen and M. Night Shyamalan's The Visit. Hahn’s other television work includes a starring role in the series Happyish for Showtime and numerous memorable guest-starring arcs including Parks & Recreation, Newsroom and Girls.
