Scholastic Storia® Wins Cynopsis Kids !magination Award for Best Educational Tablet-Based App

New York, NY — June 19, 2013 — Cynopsis Kids has awarded Storia®, the teacher-recommended ebook and ereading app created by Scholastic, with an !magination Award as best Educational Tablet-Based App. The Cynopsis Kids !magination Awards honor outstanding TV programming for toddlers, kids and teens, in addition to games and e-books and marketing campaigns. Accepting the award for Storia was Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Media, who oversaw the design and creation of the app.

"We are so pleased that Storia has been recognized by Cynopsis Kids. They truly have their finger on the pulse of what’s trending in children’s entertainment, and to be included on their list of winners is an honor," said Deborah Forte, Executive Vice President and President, Scholastic Media. "Teachers and parents tell us that Storia is motivating their children to read more books thanks to the unique features of the app, and getting more kids reading is always our top priority."

Storia is the free downloadable children’s ereading app and ebook system that grows with children from toddlers to teens and helps them learn and love to read in a fun, educational and engaging way. Storia comes with FIVE FREE ebooks, and offers access to a wide variety of age-appropriate titles. The selections are carefully curated to offer a range of children’s digital picture, chapter and interactive ebooks on a variety of topics and reading levels that are presented in a way that is true to the original print versions. A selection of Storia ebooks are enriched with fun, educational activities including vocabulary games, comprehension activities and fun video content as a reward when kids finish the book.

On Storia, parents and teachers can set up individual bookshelves for each of their children or students, purchase new ebooks, and track a child’s reading progress through each book. Tracking features include a list of words the child learned, how many pages they read, and how long the child spent reading each day.
