NEW YORK – January 25, 2010 – Scholastic Media, a division of Scholastic Inc., the global children’s publishing, education and media company, today announced the growing success of its children’s book-based applications for the iPhone™ and iPod touch® as it continues to develop its properties for a variety of platforms. The company’s I SPY ™ Spooky Mansion ranked among the Top 25 “Paid Kids Games” within the App Store, placing as high as 10th in recent days within the “Paid Kids Games” app category. The title leads Scholastic Media’s suite of apps, which consistently rank highly among the thousands of children’s, puzzle and educational games available. Scholastic Media’s current app titles are based on its top children’s book properties including Clifford the Big Red Dog®, I SPY ™, The 39 Clues™ and Goosebumps®.

“Since our launch in September, Scholastic apps have consistently performed well in an extremely competitive space, which speaks to the strength and popularity of our properties and how they resonate with the growing audience of app users,” said Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Media and Executive Vice President of Scholastic Inc. “The iPhone is a great platform because it allows us to reach parents and children on the go with a high quality media experience”.

Scholastic Media has developed and produced a library of apps that have stood out from the nearly 150,000 apps currently available in the iTunes App Store. Its I SPY Spooky Mansion and I SPY Riddle Race both ranked among the Top 50 out of more than 3,000 titles in the “Paid Kids Games” app category. This success also carried over to the “Paid Puzzle Games” category with both titles ranking in the Top 100 out of over 5,000 apps available. In the “Paid Educational Games” category, Scholastic Media’s Clifford’s BE BIG With Words ranked among the Top 100 of over 2,500 apps.
