Scholastic Colombia Branch Will Increase Access to High Quality Literacy and Mathematics Programs and Services in K–12 Schools in Latin America

NEW YORK – May 3, 2017 – Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company, today announced the opening of a new branch in Bogota, Colombia, which will increase the reach of the literacy and mathematics solutions provided by Scholastic for students and educators in K–12 schools throughout Latin America. These programs and services include customized professional development opportunities through workshops, trainings and conferences as well as instructional programs such as Literacy Pro™, Literacy Pro Library™, Guided Reading and PR1ME Mathematics™ that support educators seeking to improve and enhance instruction. Since 2014, Scholastic has provided the Secretaría de Educación in Barranquilla with learning materials that have supported the successful implementation of Singapore mathematics in the city. Now in 2017, all public primary school students in Barranquilla will be using ¡Matemáticas al Máximo! programs from Scholastic to learn math skills. The Company has also seen success with the PR1ME Mathematics series, adapted from Singapore’s “Primary Mathematics Project,” which is now the core mathematics program in more than 45 bilingual and international schools throughout Latin America, 22 of which are located in Colombia.
