Heroine of the Civil Rights Movement Joins Scholastic Exhibit at InauguralFest
New York, N.Y. (January 15, 2008) — Scholastic (NASDAQ: SCHL) today announced its participation in InauguralFest, a nonpartisan tribute to presidential history in Washington, D.C. running Jan. 16-24. As part of the celebration, Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, will host a special Book Fair with dozens of titles on the Presidency, government and the new First Family, as well as fun, educational activities for kids and families.
On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 19th, Ruby Bridges will join the Fair for a special signing of her book, Through My Eyes. As part of InauguralFest, Scholastic will provide:
- A special Scholastic Book Fair, where parents and kids can purchase affordable books, including brand new titles on President Obama, and historical titles about the country, the government and past presidents. Or they can simply relax and read together between activities.
- A display of portraits of the Presidents, from Washington to Obama, drawn by elementary-age children for the Scholastic Book Clubs Picture a President Drawing Contestwill serve as a backdrop, giving a glimpse of how kids all across the country see our nation’s leaders.
- Activities for kids, including a station where they can get creative and write letters to the new President.
