Scholastic StudyJams! Receives “Official Honoree” Distinction for the 12th Annual Webby Awards
Online Subscription-Based Learning Service for Math and Science Recognized by "Oscars® of the Internet"
New York, NY (April 11, 2008) — The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, today recognized StudyJams!™, a new math and science online learning experience for kids from Scholastic, as an Official Honoree in the Education category, a distinction that recognizes work exhibiting remarkable achievement. StudyJams! was selected from more than 10,000 entries that were received from all 50 states and over 60 countries.
Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award organization honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video, and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, AKQA Global Creative Director Rei Inamoto, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser. StudyJams!’s award puts Scholastic in good company with other winners that have included Amazon.com, eBay, Yahoo!, Google, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, PBS.
