Scholastic Donates $50,000 in Support of the New TLC Studios & Media Lab from Best-Selling Author/Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds
Reynolds’ New TLC Studios and Media Lab Uses the Power of Positive Storytelling to Promote a Kinder, More Creative World
DEDHAM, MA - Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, has donated $50,000 to support the launch of the Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning & Creativity’s (RC-TLC) new TLC Studios and Media Lab, located outside of Boston. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering learning and creativity in education.
Led by New York Times best-selling author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds (Be You; Happy Dreamer; The Dot; Say Something; The Word Collector; When Things Aren't Going Right, Go Left; The Reflection in Me) and his twin brother Paul Reynolds, TLC Studios will serve as a hub for educators, students, and families, providing resources to enhance digital literacy and creative expression. Set to open this summer, the facility will feature digital audio/video/animation production and live-streaming studios, a podcasting studio, AR/VR resources, an engineering design and fabrication maker lab, and state-of-the-art presentation and professional development workshop space.
"Thanks to the generosity of Scholastic and other like-minded partners, we’ll soon have a place where we can provide educators even more of the TLC they deserve, as well as the hands-on creativity and technology skills and inspiration to bring back to their students,” Peter H. Reynolds said.
RC-TLC has launched a fundraising campaign to help defray the considerable costs associated with the construction and launch of the studio.
The contribution from Scholastic will be commemorated with special recognition as a “TLC Hero” on the TLC Thank You Gallery wall at the new space.
RC-TLC is dedicated to encouraging creativity and innovation in teaching and learning, aligning closely with Scholastic's longstanding commitment to supporting educators and fostering a love for reading and learning in children worldwide.
“The Reynolds brothers are bringing the joy, resilience and sense of wonder found in Peter’s books to life at TLC Studios and Media Lab, and making a tangible opportunity for educators to infuse this energy in the important work they do every single day,” said Billy DiMichele, Senior Vice President of Creative Development and Corporate Social Responsibility at Scholastic. “At Scholastic, we are deeply committed to those who instill a life-long love of reading and learning. We are honored to be with Peter and Paul at this initiative’s start and are proud of the joy we bring to children, families, and classrooms as the bestselling publisher of Peter’s picture books for nearly ten years and counting. Through this donation, we hope to increase access to innovative and useful resources for teachers, students, and families.”
"We’re thrilled to introduce TLC Studios as a space where educators can recharge their creative batteries and receive the support they need to nurture positive, purposeful creativity in their classrooms," added Paul Reynolds, co-founder and Executive Director of RC-TLC. "Creativity and innovation are essential skills for empowering students to become creative problem solvers and agents of positive change."
