Scholastic Inks Deal to Offer Sourcebooks' Children's Titles as E-Books on new Scholastic E-Reading App

 

Bestselling frontlist and backlist titles for children to be available as e-books and enriched e-books

 

NEW YORK, NY — September 19, 2011 — Scholastic (NASDAQ: SCHL), the global children’s publishing, education and media company, today announced a partnership agreement with Sourcebooks, a leading independent publisher, to offer their children’s titles through the Scholastic proprietary distribution channels as e-books on the new Scholastic e-reading application launching this fall. Under the agreement, Scholastic will carry bestselling frontlist and backlist children’s titles published by Sourcebooks on the Scholastic e-reading app which is specially designed to captivate kids while helping them become better readers. Picture books, elementary series, middle grade chapter books and young adult novels will all be available for download onto the new e-reading app through Scholastic Book Clubs.

Among the first Sourcebooks to be offered through the Scholastic e-reading application will be the bestselling Horrid Henry series by Francesca Simon, Dream Big, Little Pig by Kristi Yamaguchi, and the perennial favorite picture book, I Love You More by Laura Duksta.

Scholastic is working with other publishers as well to offer their front- and backlist titles on the new e-reading application which is rolling out this fall.
